Under Construction

Please bear with me as I upload photos and add Brownie's hiking adventures to this blog.

Welcome to our blog!

Welcome to our first blog post. This blog is dedicated to reviewing and rating hiking trails in the LA County area and how dog friendly they are. Before I begin let me introduce you to Brownie the hiking dog. Brownie came from the North Central Animal Shelter, she was EXTREMELY timid and left us wondering if she might have been abused prior to her coming to live with us.

Not long after Brownie came home with us we discovered that although she was timid and frightened at home, she was 100% a different dog at the dog park. Unfortunately she picked up Giardia from the dog park (not a fun infection to have when you have 4 dogs sharing the same waster dish) and I refused to return to a place that could/would get my dog sick and cost me so much $$$ (treating 4 dogs is not cheap).

My boyfriend (Brett, you'll get to know him through out this blog) and I decided that we needed to find a way to get Brownie outside without returning to a large fenced field full of dog poop and germs. Brett had talked about going to Eaton Canyon for a long time, so we loaded ourselves and Brownie in the car and gave hiking a try. Turns out hiking is Brownie's favorite thing to do! Brownie loves seeing other dogs on the trails, she LOVES jumping from one rock to another, crossing creeks, walking across fallen logs...Brownie loves it all.

How this blog works: Brett and I are fairly new to LA so we're never 100% sure what trails are good, where we can take Brownie and so on...so I decided to start my own blog to record the trails we hike, how Brownie did on them, our thoughts on the hike and how dog friendly they turn out to be. We've decided to at least attempt 1 new hike per week, and report back with our findings as well as photos. If anyone has any trails they would suggest, please leave comments and we will try to get to those trails sooner than later. We will give each trail 2 ratings, paws and thumbs. Paws, for Brownie and thumbs for us.

Well I hope you enjoy our blog.
